What is the true Name of our Savior?

the name for salvation

What is the true Name of our Savior?

Contrary to popular belief the real Name of our Savior is not Jesus. One must keep in mind that our Savior is Hebrew and the Name given to Him was Hebrew. The letter J was not invented until just about 500 years ago and the name, Jesus, is definitely not a Hebrew name. The Name Jesus was not heard of during the time of the Apostles. What then is the true Name of our Savior?

The Name of our Savior is the Name that God gave Him:

John 17:11–12 (GNB) — 11 And now I am coming to you; I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world. Holy Father! Keep them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one just as you and I are one. 12 While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me. I protected them, and not one of them was lost, except the man who was bound to be lost—so that the scripture might come true.

Yahusha acknowledges that His Name was given to Him by the Father and that the Father’s Name is in Him. This is not surprising since putting the Name of Yahuah in the name of the children of Israel was practiced by the Hebrew people as commanded by God:

Numbers 6:27 (NKJV) — 27 “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”

A quick glance of a list of Hebrew prophets and servants of Yahuah reveal that Yah and Yahu, abbreviated versions of the Sacred Name, form are contained in these Names:

AmasYah, AshYah, AzanYah, BadYah, BaraYah, ChabYah, HudYah, HushaYah, MurYah, NadabYah

AdYahu, AzarYahu, AzazYahu, BarakYahu, KananYahu, KanYahu, NathanYahu,PadYahu, TsadakYahu

This is just a sample of the literally thousand of Names that contain Yah and Yahu. One can expect that the Name of the begotten Son of God, our Savior, contains the Name of the Father, Yahuah. This is exactly what we find in Scriptures:

Matthew 1:20–21 (NKJV)* — 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name oswjy, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Yahuah chose the Name for His begotten Son and sent an angel to instruct Joseph to call his Name Yahusha. In most English translations, the Name given is Jesus. However, there is no name Jesus in any of the ancient manuscripts where our Bibles are translated from. The name Jesus is the result of numerous translations and man-made alterations of the original Hebrew Name given by God. It was through this man made process that the original Hebrew Name morphed into the name Jesus.

The original Hebrew Name that was translated into Jesus in Matthew 1:21 is the same Name given to Joshua, Son of Nun, which expectedly, contains the Name of God, Yahuah. Examining the Name reveals that the first three letters of the 5 letter Name of Messiah is Yod, Heh, Waw, which comprise the first three letters of the Tetragrammaton and is transliterated Yahu. The last 2 letters of Messiah’s Name is the Shin and the Ayin which together is pronounced Sha. “Yahu” together with “Sha” produces the transliteration Yahusha.

sacred name

It is no wonder Yahusha said that His Name is also the Name of the Father. As we can see, Yahu, an abbreviated Name of God, is contained in the Name of the Son, Yahusha.

Where did the Name of Jesus come from?

The Name Jesus is the not the original Name given to the Son of God. This is easily discerned by remembering that the letter J was not invented since about 500 years ago and that the name Jesus only first appeared in the 1600s.

What is the origin of the name Jesus? The name Jesus is the result of numerous man made alterations of the original Hebrew Name. The table below illustrates this process:

NAME VARIATIONS

As can be seen from the table above, the name Jesus is the gross transliteration of the name Yeshua, which was the product of Babylonian captivity, a corruption of the Name Yahusha. According to the Theological Dictionary of the New Testament, the Name Yahusha was replaced by the name Yeshua, which no longer expresses Yahuah’s Name, after the exile. The name Jesus is the result of man made alterations to the Babylonian influenced name, Yeshua.

What is the meaning of the Name Yahusha?

The Name Yahusha is a beautiful Name with a wonderful meaning. The Apostle Paul confirms that the Name Yahusha is the Name above every name:

Philippians 2:9–11 (NKJV)* — 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of oswjyevery knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that oswjyChrist is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Name of Yahusha is above every name. What makes the Name of Yahusha so wonderful is that it not only contains the Name Yahuah, it also expresses the greatest act of Yahuah.

The Bible reveals the meaning of the Name Yahusha in the following passage:

Matthew 1:20–21 (NKJV)* — 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name oswjy, for He will save His people from their sins.”

In this passage the angel reveals that Messiah will be called by the Name Yahusha because “He will save His people from their sins.” Further examination of the Name Yahusha reveals that it is a compound Name composed of Yahuah and Yasha, a Hebrew root word which means to save. A wonderful meaning of the Name Yahusha is that Yahuah Saves, which He will carry out through the sacrifice of His only beloved Son, Yahusha. The sacrifice of our Father Yahuah was depicted in this Scriptural passage:

1 John 4:9–10 (NLT) — 9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

Yahusha, which means Yahuah Saves, is the Name above every name because the Name Yahusha reveals the greatest act of Yahuah for our salvation, the sacrifice of His beloved Son, Yahusha. Every time we proclaim the Name Yahusha and call upon His Name, we profess by faith Yahuah’s work of salvation.

Why do we choose to use the Name Yahusha?
Described below are the reasons why the Assembly of Yahusha has elected to use the Name Yahusha:

1.    Names are very important to Father Yahuah. In the Bible Yahuah changed the name of Abram into Abraham, Sarai into Sarah, and Jacob to Israel. This shows us that Yahuah is very particular about names and uses names to disclose His work of salvation.

2.    The Name of Yahusha was set apart by Yahuah from the very beginning. Throughout the Old Testament Yahuah has set apart the Name Yahusha by connecting it to the future work of His Son. In Numbers 13:16, Husha, son of Nun, the one who would deliver the nation of Israel into the promised land, had his name changed to Yahusha. In a prophecy in Zechariah 6:11-13, the Branch who would be both High Priest and King, would be associated with the Name Yahusha.

3.    The Name of Yahusha was given by Yahuah Himself. Yahusha Himself testified in John 17:11-12, that it was His Father Yahuah who gave Him His Name. In Philippians 2:9-11, Apostle Paul confirms that God Himself exalted His Son by giving Him the Name Yahusha.

4.    The Name Yahusha reveals the unparalleled loving act God in sacrificing His Son for our salvation. The Name Yahusha comes from a combination of Yahuah and Yasha. The word Yasha means to save. The Name Yahusha therefore means Yahuah Saves, which is through the sacrifice of His Son, Yahusha (Matthew 1:20-21, 1 John 4:9-10). Calling on Yahusha is therefore an expression of praise and faith in the saving work of Father Yahuah sacrificing His Son for our salvation. The name Jesus has no meaning and is a gross transliteration of the corrupted name Yeshua.

5.    The Father made sure the right Name would be given by sending an angel. Yahuah made sure that Joseph and Mary would give their son the correct Name. Hence, in Matthew 1:20-21, an angel appeared to Joseph and gave him the exact Name that they would give their son. Yahusha is the Name set apart from the beginning, has a special meaning to Him, and was personally given through an angel. It would be wise to use the intended Name created and given by Yahuah Himself rather than the man-made name that is Jesus.

6.    By using the Name Yahusha we show reverence and love for both Yahuah and Yahusha. Parents are the ones who choose the names of their children. For some the names they choose for their children do not have great meaning. While for others, names are meticulously chosen that reflect as very important for purpose for them. Considering the profound meaning behind the Name Yahusha tells us that this Name is very special and important to both Yahuah and Yahusha. It is important to Yahuah because He created and gave that very Name to His only begotten Son.

It is important to Yahusha because that is the Name given to Him by His Father and has a very powerful meaning contained in it. How would you feel if you are called by a name that you have no connection with? How would you feel if the people who profess to love you do not even bother to know your real Name? When we call upon our Savior by the name Jesus, He finds no emotional connection to it. It is a name that is completely foreign to His ears and his heart. It is a Name created by man. He much prefers that we call Him by His real Name, a Name that has the Name of Abba in it, the Name Yahusha. He has an emotional connection to that Name because it reveals the very heart of the Gospel.
